The BBQ Blues & Bikes festival is tapping into the community’s creativity in two ways this year – a poster competition for local artists and an art project for school-age children.
BBQ Blues & Bikes Poster Design Competition
The festival poster art contest for artists 18 and older is a juried competition of designs that showcase the festival’s theme of BBQ Blues & Bikes.
The design must include the following information:
BBQ Blues & Bikes Festival
May 26th, 2018
The winning artist will receive $100 and their artwork will be featured as a limited edition signed/numbered poster sold at the festival.
Artists may deliver 11-by-17-inch paper submissions at the Heritage Council office located at 109 N. Main St., in Elizabethtown by 4 p.m. April 16.
Read the BBQ Blues & Bikes Poster Design Competition Rules for more information.
Kid’s Art Project
Teachers of school-aged children (K-12) are encouraged to have children create a piece of 2-dimensional art (painting, drawing, collage) that features what they love about their community. The artwork should be 18-by-12-inch paper, card stock or poster board. The size is half that of a standard full-size poster board. No 3-D art work will be accepted.
Any homeschool, public school or private school in Hardin County can participate. Submissions should include the student’s name, grade and school on the back of their art. A BBB volunteer will pick up submissions from the front office of each participating school on April 16, or submissions can be delivered to the Elizabethtown Heritage Council office. Downtown Elizabethtown businesses will display submissions meeting the requirements, and students will be entered into a drawing for gift cards to local businesses.
All artwork must be original ideas and that any artwork depicting copyrighted images will be rejected (e.g. characters from television shows, movies, video games or books).
